Dreamgirls(2006)
A beloved adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Dreamgirls, follows the rise of a girl group navigating fame, ambition, and the music industry of the 1960s. The film was perfectly cast, with Jennifer Hudson delivering a powerhouse, breakout performance that carried many of the story’s most emotional moments, while Eddie Murphy gave what many consider a career-best performance. But let’s also remember the vocals of Anika Noni Rose. And, of course, Beyoncé brought the star power to complete the film’s iconic trio.
As we celebrate 20 years of Dreamgirls, may its performances, songs, and visuals continue to be discovered, revisited, and rewatched for generations to come.
